The Associated PressConstruction has started on a wine center that has been a decade in the planning at a Yakima River overlook in Prosser.
The Tri-City Herald reports ( http://bit.ly/118BieF) it's called the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center after the Washington State University researcher often called the father of the wine industry in the state.
Organizers hope to have the $4 million facility open by the end of October to showcase wine and agriculture. The center will host trade shows, conferences, cooking classes and wine-tastings that are expected to attract 45,000 visitors a year.
