The Washington Stealth (3-1) avenged last weekend's home loss with a 12-10 road win over the Edmonton Rush (1-2) at Rexall Place on Friday.
The Stealth scored three goals in 53 seconds, their second consecutive week with a flurry of three quick goals, to take a 9-7 lead into the fourth quarter, marking their first lead of the game as they shut the Rush out in the third quarter.
Edmonton pulled within 11-9 on a power-play goal with 2:45 left in the game before calling a timeout with 36 seconds left. After a Washington timeout and turnover, Corey Small scored with 8.3 seconds left to cut the lead to 11-10. But it wasn't enough, as Stealth captain Kyle Sorensen scored an empty-net goal to secure the win.
Lewis Ratcliff recorded a hat trick for the Stealth while Rhys Duch and Cliff Smith contributed offensively as well.
Men's basketball
No. 15 Northwest fell at home to No. 1 Eastern Oregon, 75-71.
Men's Track and field
Washington State's PJ Benedictus won the men's long jump with a leap equaling his personal-best of 22 feet, 10 ½ inches at the Cougar Indoor Track and Field meet in Pullman.
• Seattle Pacific's Will Harrison broke the school indoor record in the 5,000 meters, finishing in 15:00.96 at the UW Invitational.
Women's Track and Field
The Seattle U distance medley relay team broke the school record, finishing in 12:16.51 at the UW Invitational.
Men's tennis
Seattle U fell, 5-2, to Montana State in Colorado Springs, Colo., in the first of three road matches for the Redhawks this weekend.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
No. 32 Washington State fell to No. 26 Purdue, 4-3, in the first round of the ITA Team Indoor Championship in Evanston, Ill.
Women's swimming
Washington state earned a comeback win over host Oregon State, 137-125.
WHL
Austin Lotz saved 40 shots, leading the Everett Silvertips to a 4-2 Western Hockey League win at Prince George, B.C., despite being outshot 42-22.
Autos
Longtime racing pro Don Kitch of Bellevue will compete with Team Seattle in the Rolex Daytona 24, a 24-hour race at Daytona International Speedway. The race begins at 12:30 on Saturday.
Football
Eastern Washington's Brandon Kaufman was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Ind., on Feb. 20-26, his player representative said Friday.
