The Associated PressThe man who killed a Clallam County sheriff's deputy a dozen years ago has died in prison.
The Department of Corrections says Thomas Martin Roberts died Wednesday night at the Monroe Correctional Complex, apparently of natural causes. He was 66.
The Peninsula Daily News reports ( http://bit.ly/XFhH3J) he was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for an aggravated murder conviction in the 2000 death of Deputy Wally Davis.
Davis was ambushed as he responded to a report of a disturbance at Roberts' home. Davis knew Roberts and had responded to disturbances at the home in the past.
After the shooting, Roberts barricaded himself in his house and was arrested after a 25-hour standoff.
