PULLMAN — Tia Presley scored 27 points Sunday and Washington State defeated Arizona State 77-65.
Sage Romberg and Taylor Edmondson scored 17 points apiece for the Cougars (5-8, 1-1). Edmondson made all three of her three-point attempts and Washington State was 7 for 11 from behind the arc.
Janae Fulcher led the Sun Devils (8-6, 0-2) with 23 points. Joy Burke added 14 points and Jada Blackwell had 11 points.
Washington State took the lead for good with just over a minute left in the first half on Presley's three-point play. That made it 34-32 and the Cougars led by as many as 14 in the second half.
The Cougars travel to face UCLA on Friday and USC on Sunday.

at Utah 56
Chiney Ogwumike scored 20 points and Sara James added a career-high 18 as the Cardinal (13-1, 2-0) extended its conference winning streak to 80 games and improved to 15-0 against the Utes.
Iwalani Rodrigues led Utah (9-4, 0-2) with 21 points. The Utes closed to 37-35 with 14:32 left but Ogwumike sparked a 10-2 Stanford run with a contested jumper. Joslyn Tinkle capped the run with a steal and a layup for 47-37 Cardinal lead.
No. 16 UCLA 68,
at Oregon St. 64
Alyssia Brewer scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Bruins (11-2, 2-0). Atonye Nyingifa scored 14 points and Markel Walker had 13.
Ali Gibson scored 15 points for the Beavers (6-8, 0-2), who led 34-29 at halftime.

at No. 20 Colorado 49
Brittany Boyd scored 15 points and the Golden Bears got some timely rebounding to withstand a late surge by the Buffaloes (11-2, 0-2), who got 13 points from Chucky Jeffery.
Afure Jemerigbe and Reshanda Gray added 10 points apiece for Cal (12-1, 2-0), which won its sixth straight.
USC 67, at Oregon 62
Ariya Crook and Cassie Harberts scored 16 points each for the Women of Troy (5-8, 2-0).
Ariel Thomas and Amanda Delgado led the Ducks (2-12, 0-2) with 15 points each.
