A multidisciplinary performance in celebration of John Cage

John Cage centenary

And the John Cage 100th birthday celebrations keep on coming!

A variety of Seattle performing artists — Jarrad Powell, Roger Nelson, Paul Taub, Stuart Dempster and all three members of dance/sound troupe Salt Horse — stage a rare performance of an unpublished Cage score from 1989, “Steps: A Composition for a Painting,” in combination with Cage’s “Atlas Eclipticalis” and “Winter Music.” Also on the program: vocalist Jessika Kenney transforms Cage’s 1958 tape piece, “Fontana Mix,” into a Persian-influenced “Fontana Radif.”

8 p.m. Friday, Chapel Performance Space, Good Shepherd Center, 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N., 4th floor, Seattle; $5-$15 suggested donation at the door (206-789-1939 or waywardmusic.blogspot.com)
