Western Washington women's soccer coach Travis Connell has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II West Region Coach of the Year.
The 39-year-old Connell directed the Vikings to a 19-4 record.

• The Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) has officially announced Chambers Bay in University Place as the host site for the Washington State Men's Amateur championship June 18-20, 2013. This will be the first WSGA championship held at Chambers.
• Mychael Tuiasosopo, a junior nose tackle who anchored Pacific Lutheran's defensive front during a run to the NCAA Division III national playoffs, has been named to the D3football.com 2012 All-West Region first team. Lutes named to the second team were sophomore wide receiver Kyle Warner, junior linebacker Jordan Patterson and senior cornerback Tayler Angevine. Selected to the third team was offensive guard Chris Edison. Puget Sound wide receiver Adam Kniffin also was picked to the third team.
• "Vicious" Vincent Thompson of Federal Way returns to the ring Thursday night after a six-month layoff, facing journeyman Yohan Banks at The Hangar at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, Calif.
The six-round bout is on the undercard of an eight-bout Fight Club OC event. Thompson is 11-0 with 2 KOs.
