Na Yeon Choi earns her LPGA Tour season with a victory | Golf

NAPLES, Fla. — Na Yeon Choi of South Korea proved to be a big-money player this year on the LPGA Tour.

Choi captured her first major title this summer at the U.S. Women's Open, earning the biggest purse of the year. She won Sunday's Titleholders and a $500,000 check, the second-biggest prize on Tour.

Choi closed with a 2-under-par 70 for a 72-hole total of 14-under 274 and a two-stroke victory at TwinEagles.

For someone who has an appointment Monday in Orlando, Fla., to look for a new house, the timing was ideal.

"I think I can buy bigger than I thought," Choi said.

South Korean So Yeon Ryu (70), the rookie of the year, was second at 12 under. American Brittany Lincicome (70) was at 11 under.

Jimenez, 48, wins

HONG KONG — Miguel Angel Jimenez became the oldest European Tour winner, shooting a 5-under 65 to earn his third Hong Kong Open title.

At 48 years and 318 days, the Spaniard surpassed the record for oldest winner set by Ireland's Des Smyth, who was 48 years and 34 days when he took the 2001 Madeira Islands Open.

Jimenez had a 15-under 265 total and earned $333,330. Runner-up Fredrik Andersson Hed (64) of Sweden was at 14 under.

Other tournaments

• Adam Scott, playing in his home country, shot a 5-under 67 to win the Australian Masters in Melbourne. Scott had a 17-under 271 total at Kingston Heath.

Ian Poulter (72) settled for second at 13 under.

• Henrik Stenson of Sweden shot a 1-under 71 to win the European Tour's South African Open near Johannesburg, his first victory since 2009.

Stenson had a 17-under 271 total to beat runner-up George Coetzee (71) of South Africa by three strokes.

• Tommy Gainey made a 3-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole, shooting a 3-under 69 for a one-stroke victory over Kirk Triplett and William McGirt at the Pebble Beach Invitational in California.

Gainey, 37, finished at 11-under 277 and earned $60,000 in the event for players from the PGA, LPGA, Champions and Web.com tours. The 50-year-old Triplett (68) is a graduate of Pullman High School. McGirt, 33, closed with a 69.
