Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue responded to a brush fire near the Highway 303 and Highway 3 interchange late Sunday evening.
By 10 p.m. the fire was contained, about 100 feet by 200 feet in light to moderate brush, and crews were working to extinguish flare-ups.
The Washington State Patrol shut down two lanes of the northbound Highway 3 onramp from 303. Navy Region Northwest personnel also responded to assist.
Conditions in Kitsap County are extremely dry and a Phase 1 Burn Ban is in effect, prohibiting all outdoor burning. The county fire marshal will investigate the cause of the fire on Monday.
