UW men shut out Cal Poly 2-0 in soccer


A goal by Washington defender Taylor Peay and a penalty kick from Dylan Tucker-Gangnes helped the Huskies (2-0) to a 2-0 shutout of Cal Poly (0-2) in a nonconference men's soccer match Sunday.

Other men's soccer

• Gonzaga (1-1) scored twice in less than four minutes in a 2-1 win over Seattle University (1-1).

Golf

Derek Bayley, 16, of Rathdrum, Idaho, defeated Zach Wanderscheid of Goldendale, Wash., on the first playoff hole to win the Pacific Northwest Amateur Public Links Championship in Post Falls, Idaho.

In the Senior Men's Championship, Bob Christensen of Post Falls, Idaho, successfully defended his title with a final round, 2-over-par 75 to finish the championship at even-par 146.

In the Women's Championship, Sierra Bezdicek of Colbert, shot a 1-under 72 to earn a 3-stroke victory over defending champion Kate Hildahl of Tualatin, Ore.

Women's soccer

Isabel Farrell scored the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute as Washington (3-0) earned a 2-1 victory at Syracuse.

Taylor Ritzman had a hat trick to help Seattle U (2-2) to a 3-0 win over Eastern Washington (0-2).

• Gonzaga's Heather Johnson scored the winner a 2-1 victory over visiting Boise State (2-2).
