Burien reaches deal with developer

Burien city officials have agreed to give developer Harbor Urban until Nov. 15 to sell them on a new plan for the second phase of Burien Town Square, a public-private project intended to revitalize the city's downtown.

Harbor Urban was to have started building the second phase -- condos -- a year ago. The city council, tired of waiting, voted in June to exercise a contract clause to buy the property back from the developer.

That's now on hold, and the city says it's willing to consider rental apartments instead of condos.
