Seminal Swedish punk band Refused to play Showbox SoDo

Since its 1998 release, Refused's "The Shape of Punk to Come" has proved over time to be every bit as essential as its title boldly implied, with its nod to fellow envelope-pusher Ornette Coleman's 1959 free-jazz classic "The Shape of Jazz to Come." Literate, left-leaning and loud as hell, the Swedish quintet embraced anomalous influences — metal, art rock, techno, jazz — without sacrificing any of its anthemic, anti-capitalist rage. Long disbanded, Refused reunited this year to headline at Coachella. New generations of fans can bear witness on a show that also features Sleigh Bells. 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Showbox SoDo, 1700 First Ave. S., Seattle; $35 (888-929-7849 or showboxonline.com).
