Seattle Times business reporterUnemployment in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties rose in July over the previous month, the state said Tuesday.
The nonseasonally adjusted jobless rate in King County was 7.8 percent in July, up from 7.2 percent in June. In Snohomish County, it was 8.8 percent, up from 8.3 percent. And in Pierce County, the jobless rate was 9 percent, up from 8.9 percent.
The unemployment rate fell in 22 counties, rose in 12 and remained unchanged in five, according to state figures.
The statewide unemployment rate last month rose slightly, to 8.4 percentfrom 8.3 percent in June.
All figures are not seasonally adjusted, meaning they do not take into account normal, seasonal fluctuations in employment, such as the end and start of the school year.
