Fit & Fun: a running event just for kids

By Richard Seven

Fit & Fun |

Hide the video games, shut off the cartoons and urge your child to get moving. Mill Creek's third annual Kids Fun Run on Saturday might be a good option.

The event, sponsored by local running store Run26 and the Mill Creek Parks & Recreation staff, caters to kids ranging in ages from 3 to 12. It will be held at the Heatherwood Middle School track, 1419 Trillium Blvd. S.E., Mill Creek.

The event includes:

One lap for kids from 3 to 5 years old. Begins at 10 a.m.;

One kilometer (just more than a half-mile) at 10:30 a.m.;

Two kilometers (just more than a mile) at 11 a.m.

All parents will be required to sign a waiver and are encouraged to stay and cheer. Register by Friday and your child will get a T-shirt.

One-third of the $15 registration fee will go to the American Red Cross to help families in Snohomish County.
