Residents recovering after Inland Northwest storm

Residents in northeastern Washington are still recovering from damages brought on by a fierce storm that ripped through the Inland Northwest July 20.

The Spokesman-Review ( http://is.gd/ISMxwB) says thunder, flash floods, hurricane-force winds and hail hit the area, killing a male truck driver at Priest Lake and a female camper in the mountains in Ferry County.

Ferry County officials say most residents had power by last Friday but some in outlying areas are still without electricity.

Crews have cleared tree trunks, limbs and debris from main roads throughout the county, but other roads are still in disrepair. The storm damaged 20 homes. A few dozen residents in Keller, Wash., have sought shelter at a community center.

FEMA officials will survey the county this week to assess who will receive federal assistance.
