First three horses listed in each
race in order of predicted finish.
First race: 6:15 p.m.
Popular Pick has been second in each of his two career starts. Chupetes finished right behind the top pick in his last race and has a decent chance, as does Perusethenews, who gets a weight break as a 3-year-old against older horses.
1 1 mile, purse $7,875, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $10,000/$8,000 PP Horse Jockey Line Wt. 4 Popular Pick Antongeorgi 5-2 118 5 Chupetes J Gutierrez 9-5 124 1 Perusethenews D Hoonan 2 116 2 Gold Chip Camacho-Flrs 8 122 3 Pontiaction R Bowen 8 118
Hip Hop City failed as the 9-10 favorite in his last race, but predicting a better effort here. Stormin' Bubsy makes her first start here at the bottom level after showing some early speed against much better in two races at Hollywood Park in Southern California. Spending will be rallying late.
2 6 furlongs, purse $5,350, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $5,000 PP Horse Jockey Line Wt. 1 Hip Hop City R Bowen 3 124 2 Stormin' Bubsy G Mitchell 2 118 5 Spending J Whitaker 7-2 118 3 Restless Gold L Mawing 5 118 4 Minister Man M Anderson 12 124 6 Funny Stuff Camacho-Flrs 20 124 7 Krain Corner D Hoonan 5 124
Codys a Bobcat was scratched out of a race Sunday to run in this race, and he has finished in the money in five of seven starts at a mile. Power Strip has been in the money in his past three starts, and his only win was at a mile. Snow On the River rarely wins, but is usually competitive.
3 1 mile, purse $7,450, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $7,500 PP Horse Jockey Line Wt. 5 Codys a Bobcat L Mawing 2 121 2 Power Strip G Mitchell 3 121 3 Snow On the River J Whitaker 5-2 121 1 Wild Hoss Camacho-Flrs 6 118 4 Maltese Pins Antongeorgi 7-2 118
Itsafineredwine is a good closer, and there should be enough speed in the race to set up his closing kick. Marquetching will have some pace pressure, but he will be dangerous if he gets the early lead. Mufaajy will be rallying late.
4 6 furlongs, purse $5,675, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $3,500 PP Horse Jockey Line Wt. 1 Itsafineredwine J Gutierrez 5-2 121 4 Marquetching G Mitchell 2 121 2 Mufaajy L Mawing 9-5 121 3 Snooper Dauper J Zunino 12 115 5 Im Pure Brass Camacho-Flrs 5 121
Sun City made an impressive move to win her last race and moves to a distance where she has had more success. Hispania has had success at a mile (three wins and 8 of 12 in the money), and leading jockey Juan Gutierrez keeps the mount. Nina Win, like Sun City, is an 8-year old, and has won 10 times at Emerald, including twice this year at this distance.
5 1 mile, purse $7,450, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $5,000/$4,000 PP Horse Jockey Line Wt. 4 Sun City G Mitchell 9-5 123 2 Hispania J Gutierrez 6 116 6 Nina Win Camacho-Flrs 9-2 116 1 Eyes On My Heart L Mawing 7-2 119 3 Tullamore Dew E Kubinova 4 114 5 Miss Madavor R Bowen 8 118
Bella Angelina has a good chance if she can duplicate her effort from her last race, when she was second. Severed Ties finished less than a length behind the second pick in her last race, and she was 6 lengths in front of the fourth-place horse. Evelyn's Danceband has finished third in four of her seven races.
6 6 furlongs, purse $7,450, 3-year-olds, fillies, claiming $7,500 PP Horse Jockey Line Wt. 2 Bella Angelina J Matias 7-2 118 4 Severed Ties D Hoonan 5 121 3 Evelyn's Danceband J Rosales 9-2 118 1 Footnotedisclosure Antongeorgi 4 121 5 De la Luna J Gutierrez 6 121 6 Port Wakefield J Whitaker 12 121 7 Gentleman's Red Camacho-Flrs 3 118
7 5 ½ furlongs, purse $4,725, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $2,500 PP Horse Jockey Line Wt. 4 Send Silver Camacho-Flrs 5-2 121 5 Cash Gaming E Kubinova 4 116 6 Sarbonne J Gutierrez 7-5 124 1 Camp Pendleton J Zunino 5 121 2 Speedway Trick R Bowen 15 124 3 Kasino Man M Anderson 6 121
Send Silver takes a huge drop in class. He showed good promise last year but hasn't done much in three starts this year. He could rebound here. Cash Gaming drops to the bottom level after a rough trip in his last race. Sarbonne is well-bred and was facing better horses on the synthetic dirt at Golden Gate. He has a clear edge in Beyer speed figures and will likely be the favorite.
Best bet: Hip Hop City
