Jack Straw's camera-obscura view of the neighborhood

The Jack Straw Foundation continues its 50th anniversary celebration with "Outside In/Inside Out: The Inner Life of Jack," a camera-obscura installation by Ellen Sollod. Ghostly upside-down images of zipping traffic and hurrying pedestrians on Roosevelt Avenue Northeast (just outside Jack Straw Studios) are accompanied by a "score" assembled from 40-plus years of Jack Straw audio projects. Those include chats about trees or bagels and snippets of classical music and West African pop tunes. Sollod, who will give an artists' talk at 6 p.m. July 27, says the installation is intended to evoke "Jack Straw reaching out into the world and the world coming to Jack Straw."
