UW's Jennifer Yang loses at U.S. Women's Publinx


NESHANIC STATION, N.J. — Jennifer Yang of the University of Washington double-bogeyed the 18th hole and lost 1-up Thursday to Ashlan Ramsey of Milledgeville, Ga., in the third round of the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links golf tournament.

Ramsey, 16, advanced to the quarterfinals.

Earlier in the day, Yang rallied to beat Gonzaga's T.J. Kliebphipat 1-up after trailing by three with just four holes remaining. Yang, from South Korea, recently completed her freshman season at UW.

Temperatures reached the mid-90s on a day all the competitors trudged through two matches and 36 holes.

• Brittany Tallman, a UW senior-to-be from Issaquah, lost 4 and 3 to Kelsey Morrison in the round of 16 at the Women's Oregon Amateur in Tualatin, Ore.
