Cool, wet weather in Washington

The Associated Press

Cool, wet weather broke some records Thursday in Washington.

The National Weather Service noted record rainfall in Western Washington and record low temperatures in Eastern Washington.

More than half an inch of rain, .53, fell at the Weather Service office in Seattle, more than doubling the old record set in 1993. Record rainfall also was reported at Olympia, .63, and Quillayute, .94.

The .65 measured at Sea-Tac Airport was shy of the record for the date at the airport. So far this year, nearly 24 inches of rain have been recorded at Sea-Tac. That's more than 6 inches above normal.

The low temperature at Moses Lake was 38, a degree lower than the old record set in 1982. Winthrop tied a record low of 31.
