Event: Ski jumping.
Notable: Strongest U.S. hope for ski-jumping medal.

Jill Bakken
Age: 25. Stats: 5-6, 155.
Hometown: Portland native and former Washington resident, a 1995 graduate of Lake Washington High School, now resides in Park City, Utah.
Event: Women's bobsled.
Notable: Along with fellow U.S. driver Jean Racine, a medal favorite in new Olympic sport for women.

Tessa Benoit
Age: 24. Stats: 5-6, 130.
Hometown: Ketchum, Idaho.
Event: Cross-country skiing.
Notable: First-time Olympian, a former All-American at the University of Vermont.

KC Boutiette
Age: 31. Stats: 5-9, 160.
Hometown: Tacoma.
Event: Speedskating, 5,000 and 10,000 meters.
Notable: Boutiette, a three-time Olympian, pioneered the movement of inline skaters to speedskating. A back injury has hampered him this season. His fiancee, Jennifer Rodriguez of Miami, is a multiple medal favorite for the U.S.

Gabrielle "Rosey" Fletcher
Age: 26. Stats: 5-9, 150.
Hometown: Girdwood, Alaska.
Event: Parallel slalom snowboarding.
Notable: The Nagano veteran is a medal contender, but hasn't lived up to last season's dominating World Cup performance so far this year.

Lars Flora
Age: 24. Stats: 5-11, 157.
Hometown: Portland native resides in Anchorage.
Event: Cross-country skiing, various distances.
Notable: The final Nordic athlete selected, Flora one of record 10 Alaskans on Olympic team.

Jeffrey Greenwood
Age: 26. Stats: 5-7, 160.
Hometown: Bend, Ore.
Event: Snowboard parallel slalom.
Notable: Was upset for an Olympic spot four years ago, became the second. snowboarder to clinch a 2002 Olympic team spot.

Jay Hakkinen
Age: 24. Stats: 6-0, 165.
Hometown: Kasilof, Alaska.
Event: Biathlon.
Notable: Third time on Olympic team, he was first American to win a World Championship in biathlon.

Andrew Johnson
Age: 24. Stats: 6-0, 170.
Hometown: Born in Coupeville, now lives in Greensboro, Vt.
Event: Cross-country skiing.
Notable: Johnson cut short his racing at Middlebury College to help inaugurate the U.S. residence program in Park City in 1999.

Nina Kemppel

Hometown: Anchorage.
Event: Cross-country skiing.
Notable: First U.S. woman on four Olympic ski teams; won 18 national titles.

Torin Koos
Age: 20. Stats: 6-2, 175.
Hometown: Leavenworth.
Event: Cross-country skiing sprints.
Notable: Surprise qualifier in cross-country events, Koos is a University of Utah student who was multi-sport athlete at Leavenworth's Cascade High School.

Lisa Kosglow
Age: 28. Stats: 5-1, 125.
Hometown: Boise.
Event: Parallel slalom snowboard.
Notable: One of six '98 Nagano veterans on U.S. squad.

Scott Macartney
Age: 24. Stats: 5-11, 195.
Hometown: Redmond.
Event: Alpine skiing downhill, super-G.
Notable: Macartney, from Crystal Mountain Ski Club, won a Gold Cup race at Snowbasin last season the first men's downhill ever run on "Grizzly," the Olympic downhill course.

Apolo Anton Ohno
Age: 19. Stats: 5-7, 160.
Hometown: Seattle.
Event: Short-track speedskating: 500, 1,000, 1,500 meters, team relay.
Notable: Ohno is the defending World Cup overall champion with strong potential for four medals.

Joe Pack
Age: 23. Stats: 5-9, 175.
Hometown: Springfield, Ore., native resides in Park City, Utah.
Event: Freestyle skiing, aerials.
Notable: A ski jumper, Pack turned to aerials at age 12. Won his first World Cup at 19. A high school football player, Pack spends a lot of time in the summer dirt-biking.

Jeret Peterson
Age: 20. Stats: 5-8, 155.
Hometown: Boise.
Event: Freestyle skiing, aerials.
Notable: Named as a last-minute numerical replacement for injured teammate Emily Cook.

Aelin Peterson
Age: 26. Stats: 5-6, 134.
Hometown: Fairbanks, Alaska.
Event: Cross-country skiing, various distances.
Notable: Once a promising junior racer, she left the sport for about five years to try speedskating for a year. Was an equity trader in Milwaukee for several years before edging her way back into skiing last year.

Kikkan Randall
Age: 19. Stats: 5-4, 130.
Hometown: Anchorage.
Event: Cross-country skiing, various distances
Notable: Randall gives Alaska its first two-generation Olympic family. Her aunt Betsy Haines was a member of the 1980 Olympic team, and her uncle Chris Haines was on the 1976 Olympic team.

Tom Rothrock
Age: 23. Stats: 6-2, 195.
Event: Alpine skiing, slalom.
Hometown: Cashmere.
Notable: Rothrock, who started skiing at age 5 at Mission Ridge, has surprised coaches with strong World Cup finishes this season, but is on the team mostly to gain Olympic experience for the '06 Games in Turin, Italy.

Dane Spencer
Age: 24. Stats: 5-10, 185.
Hometown: Boise.
Event: Skiing, giant slalom.
Notable: After overcoming back problems, Spencer tore ligaments in his right knee that reduced is 2001 season. Started skiing at age 2.

Dan Steele
Age: 32. Stats: 6-2, 218.
Hometown: Eugene, Ore.
Event: Four-man bobsled.
Notable: The pusher on the four-man team.

Carl Swenson
Age: 31. Stats: 5-9, 150.
Hometown: Corvallis, Ore., native resides in Boulder, Colo.
Event: Cross-country skiing.
Notable: One of the few world-class skiers in the U.S. who excels at both sprints and long distances.

Rachel Steer
Age: 22. Stats: 5-8, 150.
Hometown: Anchorage.
Event: Biathlon.
Notable: Grew up sailing, skiing, swimming, hunting; won 10 national titles.

Picabo Street
Age: 30. Stats: 5-7, 163.
Hometown: Triumph, Idaho, native resides in Park City, Utah.
Event: Downhill.
Notable: Street has had mixed results on the World Cup this season, but her strongest finishes, 5th and 6th, came in downhills at Lake Louise, a course with snow comparable to Snowbasin, the Olympic venue. Olympic downhill likely to be her final race.

Jeremy Teela
Age: 25. Stats: 5-11, 180.
Hometown: Anchorage.
Event: Biathlon.
Notable: Three-time member of national team; once a competitive swimmer.

Sondra Van Ert
Age: 37. Stats: 5-9, 145.
Hometown: Ketchum, Idaho.
Event: Parallel slalom snowboarding.
Notable: The '98 Nagano veteran is winding up a long, quality World Cup career.

Justin Wadsworth
Age: 33. Stats: 6-1, 170.
Hometown: Bend, Ore.; grew up in Seattle area.
Event: Cross-country skiing, various distances.
Notable: The three-time Olympian, who grew up on the Eastside, is shooting for a top-10 finish. At Nagano in 1998, he was 37th in 30K classical and then got the flu. At Lillehammer in 1994, he was ill as well, and finished 35th in the 50K classical.

Patrick Weaver
Age: 32. Stats: 5-8, 155.
Hometown: Bend, Ore.
Event: Cross-country skiing.
Notable: A 1998 Nagano veteran.
