Video: Lorenzo Romar on UW Alumni Game

Lorenzo Romar talked about Sunday's Washington's Alumni Game.

After picking the rosters for both teams, he said a few former UW asked which team Jon Brockman was going to play with. According to Romar, Isaiah Thomas was happy upon learning that he was paired with Brockman, the school's second all-time scoring leader. Thomas is sixth on the list.

Romar believes Sunday's game could be the last public competitive outing for Brandon Roy, who had a comeback attempt cut short this season due to a reoccurring knee injury.

Bobby Jones and Quincy Pondexter are scheduled to play. However, Jones is playing in Italy and Pondexter has a NBA-sponsored commitment in Singapore. Both told Romar they'll try and play Sunday.

Brandon Burmeister (2005-09) was added to the game, which bumps the number of players in the Alumni Game to 19.

Hall of Famers Warren Moon and Lenny Wilkens will coach each team.

The Legends Game will include Christian Welp, Eldridge Recasner, Paul Fortier, Ray Price, Phil Zevenbergen, Jason Hamilton, Donald Watts, Bryant Boston, Dion Brown and Chester Dorsey. Steve Hawes and George Irvine are the coaches.

Romar joked about playing in the game although it's uncertain if he was kidding.

Nigel Williams-Goss makes Team USA

Washington incoming freshman Nigel Williams-Goss (near right) was selected to the 12-man USA Basketball U19 World Championship team.

The 6-3 guard and Arizona’s Aaron Gordon are the only players from the Pac-12 on the squad. They're also the team's only incoming freshmen.

The rest of the USA U19 World Championship roster includes: Michael Frazier, Syracuse’s Jerami Grant, Louisville’s Montrezl Harrell, Whitney Young (Chicago) High’s Jahlil Okafor, Universtity of Louisville at Lafayette’s Elfrid Payton, Oklahoma State’s Marcus Smart, Tennessee’s Jarnell Stokes, Duke’s Rasheed Sulaimon, Virginia's Mike Tobey and St. John’s (Houston) High’s Justise Winslow.

The Team USA training camp began last Friday with 26 players.

"Getting down to 12 is the real hard part because in a lot of respects we easy could have kept 14-15," USA head coach Billy Donovan said in a statement released by USA Basketball. "There were some tough decisions, difficult decisions, but I think we feel overall that we have selected an athletic and versatile team.

"Our style of play will be an aggressive, up-tempo, running, pressing style. From an execution standpoint we've got to get better there, a lot of the other teams over there have been together for quite some time and that's probably a strength of their teams, so we felt that we have to rely on some athleticism,"

The USA team will compete in the FIBA U19 World Championship. The team will fly to Washington, D.C. for workouts June 20-22 at Washington Wizards’ practice facility.

The FIBA U19 World Championship is June 24 to July 6 in Prague, Czech Republic. Fifteen other countries will compete in the tournament.

Donovan's assistants are Tony Bennett (Virginia) and Shaka Smart (Virginia Commonwealth).
