WEST GLACIER, Mont. — Two Glacier National Park visitors suffered minor injuries when heavy rains triggered mud and rock slides on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, and the popular cross-park roadway remained closed Wednesday morning.

Park officials say the slides along a five-mile stretch of the road Tuesday afternoon trapped about 10 vehicles.

One vehicle was damaged and was to be towed out of the area while others were being escorted out of the closure area via one lane of traffic as the rocks and debris were removed.

The two visitors who were injured were treated by park rangers. The slides led to a closure of the scenic highway between Avalanche Creek and Logan Pass. It was unclear when the road would be reopened. Get updates at the park's website, www.nps.gov/glac
