Alaska Airlines is starting new seasonal service between Bellingham and Maui and offering some discount tickets for the launch.

Flights will run from late fall through the spring — the peak times when Northwesterners want to escape the rain. Alaska plans four round trips a week, starting Nov. 8. The service will continue through April 14.

Alaska is offering introductory one-way fares from $179 for tickets bought by July 3 and for travel from Nov. 8 to Dec. 24, 2012. Seats are limited, and that's the online price; buying through the reservation call center or at an airport location is an additional $15.

The flight schedule:

• Bellingham to Maui flights are on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing at 11 a.m. and arriving at 3:20 p.m.

• Maui to Bellingham flights are on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday departing at 3 p.m. and arriving at 10.55 p.m.

Alaska already offers seasonal flights between Bellingham and Honolulu. Its flights from Bellingham are aimed at Canadians from the Vancouver, B.C., area as well as Washingtonians.
