Seattle travel-writing discussion tonight
Want to learn about travel writing? There's a discussion in Seattle tonight featuring Seattle-area travel writers and editors.
Want to learn about travel writing? The Society of Professional Journalists is sponsoring a discussion in Seattle tonight featuring Seattle-area travel writers and editors.
Learn what it takes to make a go of travel writing in today's market; get tips on producing compelling travel stories; and find out what editors want — and what they don't want.
The speakers are Paul Frichtl, editor of Alaska Airlines Magazine; Cathy McDonald: a freelance writer and editor/researcher for Rick Steves; Joe Myxter, travel editor of msnbc.com; and Chris Solomon, a freelance writer for The New York Times travel section, Outside, and other publications
The session will be moderated by Kristin Jackson, editor and writer with The Seattle Times' NWTraveler section.
The May 2 session is at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of The Seattle Times at 1120 John Street. There is free parking across the street in The Seattle Times' lot. The session is free for members of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Asian American Journalists Association; it's $10 for non-members.
