Expedia, Hotwire restore flight info for American Airlines
Expedia is restoring American Airlines fare and schedule information on its website.

Expedia is restoring American Airlines fare and schedule information on its website, the two companies said Monday. Its affiliate, Hotwire, will also restore the listings.
Bellevue-based Expedia dropped American from its listings in a pre-emptive move last January, after American's decision to pull its flight information from Orbitz when the companies couldn't agree on a new contract.
American said it wanted to reduce the cost of distributing tickets by requiring online travel agencies to get flight and fare information directly from the airline's computer system rather than going through intermediaries called global distribution systems, or GDS.
Expedia said it plans to access American's fares, schedules, travel products and services via American's Direct Connect link by using aggregation technology provided by an unnamed GDS.
Expedia's removal of American flights marked an escalation in a dispute between the airline and various travel sites. Expedia warned at the time it "cannot support efforts that we believe are fundamentally bad for travelers."
Neither company disclosed details of the new agreement.
