Man fatally shot in Seattle's Leschi neighborhood
Posted by John de Leon
UPDATE AT 6:15 P.M. Police confirm the shooting is a suicide.
ORIGINAL POST:
-- From Times staff reporter Sara Jean Green:
A man has died from a gunshot wound to the head in Seattle's Leschi neighborhood. Seattle police spokesman Jeff Kappel said it may be a suicide.
Kyle Moore, a spokesman for the Seattle Fire Department, said medics were called to the area of South Lane Street and 33rd Avenue South, just west of Lake Washington Boulevard, at 5:23 p.m. The medic units were only on scene for one minute and did not transport anyone to hospital, Moore said.
According to police scanner traffic, the person who called 911 heard a gunshot but did not witness the shooting. He reported the victim had been shot in the head. The victim was unresponsive and an officer asked a dispatcher to be put in contact with homicide detectives. A weapon was reportedly found nearby. A resident apparently reported seeing a possible suspect run from a nearby house.
