Cyclist badly hurt after being struck by vehicle in Renton

A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured near Renton Memorial Stadium on Thursday.

Medics found the cyclist unconscious and unresponsive, and took him to a hospital. The accident happened at 5:06 p.m. in the 200 block of Logan Avenue North, according to a Renton police statement.

Police said the cyclist appeared to have been "riding across lanes of traffic on Logan mid-block, when a vehicle traveling on Logan struck him." The vehicle, which was not identified, was going the speed limit, police said.

The cyclist was not wearing a helmet. More information will be made available, police said.

Any witnesses to the collision should contact the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500, reference Case 11-7803.
