Man jumps to death from downtown Seattle hotel
Posted by John de Leon
-- From Times staff reporter Sara Jean Green:
A man jumped to his death from the 11th floor of Seattle's luxury Fairmont Olympic Hotel on Monday afternoon, according to police and fire officials.
Police were called to the hotel at 411 University St. at 1:55 p.m., to investigate an apparent suicide, said department spokeswoman Renee Witt. Some passersby attempted CPR on the man, who cleared a row of trees and landed almost in the middle of the street, said Witt and Seattle Fire Department Lt. Sue Stangl.
Fire officials declared the man dead at the scene, Stangl said.
Traffic was closed on University Street while the apparent suicide was investigated. The street was reopened at approximately 2:30 p.m.
