UPDATE: House fire reveals marijuana-grow operation in White Center
Posted by John de Leon
UPDATE AT 11:19 A.M.: Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart says preliminarily the fire appears to have started due to the wiring for the grow operation.
ORIGINAL POST: The King County Sheriff's Office is looking for the people behind a marijuana-grow operation at a home that caught fire early Sunday morning. The fire was reported about 1 a.m. at a single-family home in the 10400 block of 10th Ave Southwest.
Firefighters called the Sheriff's Office after they found the marijuana-grow operation in the basement. The Sheriff's Office says deputies found about 55 medium-sized plants, as well as grow lights, timers, ventilation equipment and other growing supplies in the house.
No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no arrests.
A fire investigator believes an electrical malfunction caused the fire.
