Woman punches cop, earns trip to jail
Posted by John de Leon
A woman was arrested early Saturday morning after she assaulted a police officer in Pioneer Square.
The officer was monitoring bar-closing time around 2 a.m. when he spotted people fighting near First Avenue South and South Main Street. Police say the officer was able to calm everyone down, except for a woman who apparently was determined to strike a man. A female friend tried to stop the angry woman, who pushed her away.
As the woman again went after the man the officer stepped in and tried to get her to stop. Police said the woman punched the officer in the face and then scratched his hand when he handcuffed her.
The woman was booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault.
