News-Times: Snohomish man hangs himself from Deception Pass Bridge
Posted by John de Leon
A man who committed suicide by hanging himself from the Deception Pass Bridge has been identified as Matthew Krugel, 32, of Snohomish, according to the Whidbey News-Times.
Hikers found Kruger's body around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. A rope was tied around his neck and was secured to the lowest girder underneath the southern span of the bridge, according to the News-Times. Kruger parked his car nearby, but didn't leave a note.
Krugel had been staying with family in Snohomish until the last couple of days preceding his death, when he apparently was living out of his car. He didn't have any known connection with Whidbey Island or Deception Pass, the News-Times reports.
"I don't know why he picked that spot," Island County Coroner Robert Bishop tells the newspaper. "We'll never know."
