As a young child, Victor Janusz sat down at the piano, began playing songs by ear, and the rest is history — a history he recounts in his charming, 80-minute musical memoir “Hands Solo: Pianoman,” running at ACT Theatre through the weekend.

Breezy and episodic, the one-man show (directed by Lori Larsen) has no driving narrative — just engaging anecdotes about Janusz’s career (method acting, many cabaret stints, too long playing for shoppers at Nordstrom), his family (a lively Mexican-Polish clan) and his coming out as a gay man and activism for marriage equality.

Janusz is agreeable company. He’s also a whiz on the keyboards with a pleasingly Sinatra-esque voice, both displayed in the standards and originals he sprinkles throughout his revue.
