What to do in Seattle after dark | The List

Three late-night entertainments in the Seattle area for the long, lazy evenings of summer.

Summer always makes us want to stay up late. Here are three shows that don’t even get started till the sun starts to go down over the Olympics.

Behind the Pink Door

One of Pike Place Market’s sweetest venues hosts cabaret and burlesque performances at 11 p.m. on Saturdays. Doors open at 9; first-come, first-served; $20 cover, plus dinner; 21 and over (1919 Post Alley, Seattle; 206-443-3241or thepinkdoor.net).

Improv comedy

Two Seattle outfits lead the pack when it comes to improvised comedy, and both have all-ages shows at 10:30 on Friday and Saturday nights: Jet City (5510 University Way N.E., Seattle; $12-$15; 206-352-8291 or jetcityimprov.com). And Theatresports (The Market Theatre, 1428 Post Alley, Seattle; $15; 206-587-2414 or unexpectedproductions.org).

Late Nite Kizomba

This is more participatory dancing than a show, per se. But the Saturday-night crowd at the Century Ballroom puts on plenty of razzle-dazzle during sessions devoted to kizomba, a mesmerizing, sensual dance form from Angola. 11 p.m. July 12 and 19, $7 cover, 21 and over (915 E. Pine St., Seattle; 206-324-7263 or centuryballroom.com).
