TV, film composer Charles Fox to talk on Mercer Island
TV and movie theme-song composer Charles Fox (“Happy Days,” “The Love Boat,” “9 to 5”) will speak at the Stroum Jewish Community Center April 28, 2013.
You may not recognize Charles Fox’s name right away, but you’ve heard his work — he composed the theme songs for TV shows such as “Happy Days,” “Laverne & Shirley,” “The Love Boat” and “The Paper Chase.” The New York City-born Fox was co-composer of “Killing Me Softly with His Song,” the Grammy-winning song made popular by Roberta Flack and later, the Fugees, and scored more than 100 films. He’ll talk about his life and work in the Stroum Jewish Community Center’s Jewish Touch Lecture Series, 2 p.m. Sunday at SJCC, 3801 E. Mercer Way, Mercer Island; $8-$12 (www.sjcc.org).
