Music of Remembrance’s free “concerts-with-commentary” series, “Sparks of Glory,” returns on Saturday with Steve Reich’s “Different Trains” for string quartet and taped speech and sound effects. The now-classic 1988 piece (also recently performed at Seattle Chamber Music Society’s Winter Festival) contrasts cross-country train journeys the American composer made in the 1940s with the lethal journeys to Nazi death camps that European Jews made during the same era. Also on the program: Lori Laitman’s “The Seed of Dream,” a song cycle based on poems by World War II Jewish resistance fighter Abraham Sutzkever. Baritone Erich Parce is the soloist.

2 p.m. Saturday, Plestcheeff Auditorium, Seattle Art Museum, 1300 First Ave., Seattle; free (206-365-7770 or www.musicofremembrance.org).
