"Scandalous," a musical about evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson that was produced last year at the 5th Avenue Theatre (under the name "Saving Aimee"), will open on Broadway in the fall.
The 5th Avenue and the show's author-lyricist, "Today" TV show host Kathie Lee Gifford, added Thursday morning that the show will be staged at the Neil Simon Theatre. Tickets go on sale Aug. 30. Previews begin Oct. 13; the show opens Nov. 15. David Armstrong, 5th Avenue executive producer and artistic director, is directing.
The musical, which opened under Armstrong's direction, received mostly mixed and negative reviews from Seattle critics, but praise for its star, Carolee Carmello.
