'Represent!' at ACT Theatre showcases multicultural productions

'Represent!'

The Hansberry Project at ACT Theatre is hosting a second year of "Represent!," a multicultural playwrights festival offering public readings of four full-length plays by black, Latino and East Asian playwrights. The fest opens Tuesday, July 17.

Presented in collaboration with the local theater companies EsE Teatro, Pratidhwani and SIS Productions, the festival features works by authors Rose Cano ("Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, Homeless in Seattle"); Tulika Kumar ("The Banyan Tree Trilogy"); Kimber Lee ("Fight"); and Dominique Morisseau ("Paradise Blue").

The festival runs 7:30 nightly Tuesday-July 22 (see all the productions at 1, 3, 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. the final day) at ACT Theatre, 700 Union St., Seattle; $5 (206-292-7676 or www.acttheatre.org).
