The Frye Art Museum, which closed for renovations April 17, celebrates its 60th anniversary with a grand reopening on Saturday. The three new exhibits on show include two drawn from the Frye's permanent collection: "The Perfection of Good-Nature" (on the influence of Chicago's 1893 Columbian Exposition on the Frye collection) and "Ties That Bind: American Artists in Europe." The third exhibit, "Liu Ding's Store: Take Home and Make Real the Priceless in Your Heart," is the first solo show in the U.S. by the Chinese artist and involves an "intervention" by him in the Frye's gift shop.

The renovations revert the building to its original architectural design, reopening passageways that have been closed off for years and highlighting views from inside the museum of the Frye's courtyard and reflecting pool. Admission is free, as always.

Opening-weekend events include talks by Liu Ding (2 p.m. Saturday) and museum director Jo-Anne Birnie Danzker (2 p.m. Sunday). There will also be an ice-cream social in the cafe courtyard, 3 p.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursdays, Frye Art Museum, 704 Terry Ave., Seattle; free (206-622-9250 or www.fryemuseum.org).
