Invasion of the classical concerts
The Hilary Hahn-Valentina Lisitsa concert on Monday in Seattle kicks off a week that is particularly rich in classical-music events.

Today: Seattle Metropolitan Opera opens its third season with a program of Grieg, Debussy, Behnke and Prokofiev at 2 p.m. at Benaroya Hall; $10-$15 (206-215-4747 or www.benaroyahall.com).

Tuesday: Seattle Symphony salutes the past and present of the local music scene in "Sonic Evolution" with guests Hey Marseilles and Cuong Vu, and works inspired by Nirvana, Quincy Jones and Jimi Hendrix, 7:30 p.m., Benaroya Hall; $19-$58 (206-215-4747 or www.seattlesymphony.org).
Wednesday: "The Lord of the Rings in Concert: 'The Fellowship of the Ring' " with conductor Ludwig Wicki and more than 200 musicians performing the film's score while the movie plays on a giant screen, 7:30 p.m. at KeyArena, Seattle; $35-$150 (800-745-3000 or ticketmaster.com).
