Memorial plans set for George Shangrow
Memorial plans announced for Seattle conductor, teacher and radio host George Shangrow, who was killed in July 31 car accident.
A memorial for Seattle conductor George Shangrow will be held 2-5 p.m. Aug. 22 at University Christian Church, 4731 15th Ave. N.E. in Seattle, family members announced. His family is deciding details of a celebration-of-life concert to be held in the fall. Shangrow, 59, was the founder and music director of Orchestra Seattle and Seattle Chamber Singers and a well-known member of the classical-music community. He was killed in a car crash July 31 outside of Winthrop, Okanogan County, on his way to lecture at the annual Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival.
