KING FM's Arts Channel debuts on-demand feature

KING FM's Arts Channel

There's always an element of serendipity involved in catching an interview with a favorite artist or performer on the air. And once it's over, too often it vanishes.

Area classical-music station KING FM (98.1) aims to change that with a new on-demand option in its online arts coverage. Now you can catch up with some of the 140-plus arts-related stories featured on the KING FM Arts Channel since it began streamcasting in 2008.

Just go to www.king.org/arts. There, you'll find interviews and features on local theater, music, dance, books, the visual arts and various hard-to-categorize events. Featured items this week include chats with artist Tony Angell and the Seattle Symphony's next maestro, Ludovic Morlot, an item on Taproot Theatre's production of "Man of La Mancha" and (full disclosure) Seattle Times book editor Mary Ann Gwinn reviewing Tacoma archaeologist Dr. Donald P. Ryan's book, "Beneath the Sands of Egypt."

About 30 other features are already available on the searchable archive. Links to artists' and arts organizations' websites are provided.

KING FM Arts Channel host Marta Zekan writes, "Visitors can now search for the subjects that interest them most and select who they want to listen to, when they want to listen. Over time, we will build a large archive of current interviews as well as old favorites."
