Taproot finds temporary space after Friday morning fire
Taproot Theatre in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood has found a temporary home for "Enchanted April" after an early-morning fire.
On with the show: Taproot Theatre's popular production of "Enchanted April" will be canceled for tonight, but resume on Saturday with 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. shows at the Charlotte Martin Theatre, the largest venue at Seattle Children's Theatre, in the Seattle Center.
After suffering unspecified "significant damage" to its own playhouse during a early-morning Friday fire in an adjacent building, the Greenwood company put out a call for an alternate space to put on the show, which was scheduled to close after Saturday's performance. SCT, which has only one show running in its two-theater building, answered the call.
Ticketholders and others are welcome to come to either performance of "Enchanted April" on Saturday at SCT. There will be no reserved seating, and Taproot asks patrons not to call the SCT box office with questions. Tickets will be available at the door.
Look for updates on the fire damage at Taproot, and its plans, on the Web site, www.taproottheatre.org, or the home page of seattletimes.com.
