‘Mob City’

Frank Darabont (“The Walking Dead,” “The Shawshank Redemption”) is creator/executive producer of this “three-week television event” set in 1940s Los Angeles. The series, based on the novel “L.A. Noir” by John Buntin, stars Jon Bernthal, Ed Burns, Neal McDonough and Jeremy Luke. The first episode looks amazing and features a great guest-star performance by Simon Pegg. Two-hour premiere, 9 p.m. Wednesday on TNT (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).
