‘Awkward.’

This refreshing, quirky little MTV comedy feels like the television offspring of several John Hughes 1980s teen flicks. For Season 3, it’s junior year for the ragtag group of misfits, and it brings all the joys and horrors of high-school life. Hourlong season premiere, 10 p.m. Tuesday on MTV (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).

Also on Tuesday

“MLB Baseball,” 7 p.m. (ROOT): Detroit Tigers at Seattle Mariners (Live).
