‘The Neighbors’

Although the networks haven’t officially announced their fall schedules, let’s hope this nutty comedy — about a very human family whose members discover their neighbors are from another planet — will return for a second season. If for no other reason that to see how the Weavers (wonderfully played by Jami Gertz and Lenny Venito) continue to cope with — and educate — aliens who’ve taken on the names Larry Bird, Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Dick Butkus. The season finale features guest stars George Takei and Mark Hamill. 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on ABC (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).
