‘American Idol’

Has it really been nearly 11 years since Kelly Clarkson was crowned the original “American Idol”? (Trivia question: How many years since the “Idol” winner was a woman?). For its 12th season the behemoth singing competition introduces three new judges (Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban), and welcomes back returning judge Randy Jackson and the host-who-never-sleeps, Ryan Seacrest. (For the answer to the trivia question, go to www.americanidol.com and search under “contestants.”). Two-hour premiere, 8 p.m. Wednesday on Fox (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).
