Wednesday TV Picks: ‘People’s Choice Awards 2013’
TV picks for Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, include the “People’s Choice Awards 2013” on CBS, “Modern Family” on ABC and “American Horror Story: Asylum” on FX.
‘People’s Choice Awards 2013’
Kaley Cuoco (“The Big Bang Theory”) hosts this awards show that features categories in movies, music and TV. Nominees (and more importantly, the winners) are determined by the fans. Scheduled musical performers include Christina Aguilera, Jason Aldean and Alicia Keys. 9 p.m. Wednesday on CBS (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).

“Whitney,” 8 p.m. (NBC): While trying to figure out what is making Alex’s allergies act up, Whitney reveals she has a heart condition; Lily introduces her new boyfriend to her friends.
“Cousins on Call,” 8 p.m. (HGTV): A couple returns from their vacation to find they have a new kitchen.
“Modern Family,” 9 p.m. (ABC): Jay and the family plan to celebrate New Year’s together at a hotel in Palm Springs, but the hotel doesn’t meet their expectations; Alex and Haley are faced with challenges as they try to watch the kids back at home.
“Nova,” 9 p.m. (KCTS): “Decoding Neanderthals”: Analysis of the Neanderthal genome shows that modern humans and Neanderthals had interbred some 60,000 years ago.
“American Horror Story: Asylum,” 10 p.m. (FX): Grace tells Kit devastating news about the aliens’ experiments on Alma; Dr. Thredson receives an unexpected visitor; the monsignor goes to extreme lengths to silence Jude.
“Top Chef: Seattle,” 10 p.m. (Bravo): The cheftestants must impress Wolfgang Puck; the chefs cook for 200 people at the Bite of Seattle food event.
