'The Closer'

Tonight we say goodbye to Dept. Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) as the character leaves this series and the show morphs into "Major Crimes" (which premieres immediately following at 10 p.m.). The satisfying series finale brings back the elusive Philip Stroh (Billy Burke) and contains a moment that made me gasp at my television in disbelief. Not to worry, though, things are wrapped up nicely for Brenda and her co-workers. You might even shed a tear. Producer/creator James Duff and all involved (one last time), we'd like to say "thank yew" for some great TV. 9 p.m. Monday on TNT (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).
