Take 2
A different spin on sports by The Seattle Times staff and readers.
Seahawks favored by nearly 80 percent of experts -
While watching the Seahawks’ defense give up big chunks of yardage and two touchdowns on Washington’s two opening drives, I compiled some of the predictions about the NFC wild-card playoff game from around the country.
And they should make Seahawks fans nervous, almost as nervous as the early 14-0 deficit.
Seattle Times writers – NFL reporter Danny O’Neil, columnists Jerry Brewer and Steve Kelley, and reporter Larry Stone – all picked the Seahawks to win. Even Washington Post reporter Mike Wise picked the Hawks to beat Washington on the road, by an even larger margin.
I watched FOX TV analysts pick the Seahawks, 4-1. Only Jimmy Johnson said Washington would win, and he qualified it by saying he needed to catch the competition in the running season tally of picks.
It’s the same everywhere you look.
ESPN.com’s pundits picked the Seahawks, 9-3. NFL.com was 9-4, Hawks. SI.com was 6-2, Hawks. All three from Yahoo.com picked the Seahawks.
And on and on.
A quick, unofficial tally 45 of 57 said Seattle would win. That’s 79 percent of the so-called experts going with the Seahawks.
Like I said, it should make Seahawks fans nervous.
