And the winner is: Seahawks' 12th Man

Our 12/12/12 readers' poll on who's the most notable No. 12 in our state's sports history was the biggest rout since, well, Sunday's Seahawks game.

And the Seahawks won this one, too. The Seahawks' 12th Man, that is.

The 12th Man - Seattle's loud, proud Seahawks fans - earned 62 percent of more than 6,000 votes through early Thursday afternoon. Spokane's John Stockton, Gonzaga point guard who went on to a Hall of Fame career in the NBA, was a distant second with 17 percent. Third was quarterback Billy Joe Hobert, who led Washington to a co-national championship in 1991, with 11 percent.

Bringing up the rear were the U12 Miss Budweiser unlimited hydroplane (5 percent), former Mariners pitcher Mark Langston (3 percent) and former UW defensive back Al Worley (2 percent).

Like I said, this was a rout. Maybe that's what I should have expected because Seahawks fans were able to vote for themselves.

Still, I was surprised Stockton didn't draw more support.

My vote? I went for the U12 Miss Bud. Where else but in Seattle would a hydro make the top four? Besides, the Miss Bud was the only thing in Seattle sports that could match the 12th Man decibel for decibel.

The comments and emails were fun, too, with a lot of cyber-debates raging. Kind of like being in the stands for a Seahawks game, without (and I don't mean this in a bad way) the bird hats, spiked hair and face paint.

Check out the comments on yesterday's Take 2 post for the highlights.
