Take 2 — London Calling
Seattle Times readers who are traveling to London for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games are taking over our Take 2 blog to share their Olympic experiences from the United Kingdom.
Londoners brace for impact of Olympics
Tower Bridge is all geared up for the Olympics! With one week to go until the opening ceremonies, the city is full of buzz in anticipation of the events.
Everywhere I go at the moment, all the talk is about the impact the Games are going to have on people's commute to work, etc. In fact, our office has made it possible for people with expected commuting issues to telecommute during the two weeks and many have opted to take part or the whole time off.
Tonight is the last day of school for kids before summer break, and I reckon that a lot of people will be heading out of town starting from today.
It will be interesting to be here during these next few weeks and experience so many tourists coming in for the Games potentially to be offset with so many locals on holiday during this time. The fact is, nobody really knows what the commute/tubes/trains are going to be like only time will tell and I'm excited to experience it (even if it means popping on my tennis shoes and trekking it home from work a night or two, if needed!).
Bring on the Games!!!
